Finalist in RANAMOK
My work 'Discarded' 2011 has been selected as a finalist for the Ranamok Prize For Contemporary Glass
"The Ranamok Glass Prize is an annual acquisitive award for glass artists who are resident in Australia and New Zealand. The prize was founded in 1994 by Andy Plummer and Maureen Cahill as a way to promote glass as an art form to the public" "Discarded" was created in 2011 and measures 23cm X 16cm X23 cm.
Made from Kiln Cast glass it is heavily carved in the cold finishing stage. It is acid polished as a final finish to give the piece a matte surface. This adds to its nature of being a discarded and re-structured piece. The metal castors were collected from an antique tea trolley, and they add a quality of survival to the nature of this vessel.
The works of the selected artists as finalists will form a touring exhibition to be mounted at the following venues: Canberra Glassworks, Kingston ACT 17th Aug-22nd Sept, 2011
Angel Place Foyer, 123 Pitt Street 4th Oct-29th Oct, 2011 Riverside Centre, Eagle St Brisbane 7th-11th November, 2011
