"Phase Transitions" is a work in progress to be exhibited at The Craft Council of BC September 28-November 13,2023. It is a new installation and based on an essay I wrote that was reaction to watching a drip of paint move down a piece of thread.
"This time it slid smoothly and the drip fell over itself, leapfrogging to the bottom. It enveloped the small items of sewing paraphernalia I had attached along the string: buttons, coloured threads, and thimbles, small pieces of memory from my mother’s collection, many of which I had earlier cast in porcelain and glass. I also included rusted pins, sewing needles, and metal clasps- They seemed just the right things to attach and to catch the liquid as it fell."
