The work is inspired by the concept of ‘meeting points’, where the ocean meets the sky, for example, or where sand meets sea, where the Northern Hemisphere meets the Southern Hemisphere.  These spaces manifest in the drawings as loose horizon lines where two elements seem to come close together, become places of arrival or departure, and are areas that are constantly shifting and being negotiated: spaces of transition.

I work with acrylic washes that are then overlayed with crafted webs of drawn colour using the simplicity of a bamboo skewer as a drawing tool with acrylic ink. I build rows, layers, almost as if I am knitting, and craft the backwards and forward movement of colours until the drawing resolves itself, and the elements negotiate a harmonious sense of space. From afar they are spacious abstract landscapes, but the viewer is equally drawn in to the details and layering in the work.
